WELCOME TO RAYADOS, SERGIO RAMOS!

06 de February de 2025. 5:02 pm.

Club de Futbol Monterrey informs our fans and the media that we have reached an agreement with Spanish star Sergio Ramos for him to become a new Rayados player on a one-year contract.

Sergio’s arrival at Monterrey is an unprecedented milestone in the Club’s history, given his career, achievements, and worldwide recognition.

The footballer is considered one of the greatest central defenders in the history of world football. He was a multiple-time champion with Real Madrid and PSG and won the FIFA World Cup with Spain in 2010, as well as two UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

Ramos, a unique defender with 117 goals at the club level and 23 with the national team, joins Monterrey to be part of the squad that will compete in 2025 in Liga BBVA MX, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the Leagues Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Spanish footballer was developed in Sevilla FC’s youth academy, made his first-division debut in 2004, and played 50 matches with the Andalusian club.

In 2005, he joined Real Madrid, where he became captain, played 671 matches, and scored 101 goals—many in crucial moments, such as the famous last-minute equalizer against Atlético de Madrid in the 2013-2014 UEFA Champions League final, which forced extra time and ultimately led to Real Madrid’s tenth Champions League title.

Ramos was part of Real Madrid’s “Galácticos” alongside Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo Nazario, David Beckham, and Raúl González, who captivated the world with their talent.

He also played alongside stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Luka Modrić, Raphaël Varane, Iker Casillas, and Sergio Canales, who is now part of the Rayados squad.

For 16 years, Sergio Ramos was a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s defense, winning five La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, four UEFA Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, and four FIFA Club World Cups.

In 2021, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in France’s Ligue 1, where he played 58 matches and won two league titles and one Super Cup.

In 2023, he returned to Sevilla, his first club, where he relived his early football days and played alongside Óliver Torres and Lucas Ocampos, both now players for Monterrey.

From an early age, Ramos stood out as one of Spain’s best talents and was called up to the national team from the U-16 level.

He made his senior debut for Spain in 2005 at just 18 years old. With "La Roja," he played 180 matches and scored 23 goals, becoming the player with the most appearances and wins in Spanish national team history.

He won the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012 and the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

Ramos played 683 minutes across seven matches as a starter in the 2010 World Cup, playing a crucial role in Spain’s historic triumph. In total, he participated in four World Cups.

Sergio has won 29 titles throughout his career, making him one of the most decorated footballers in the history of the sport.

Individually, he has been recognized for his leadership and defensive prowess. He won UEFA’s Best Defender award in 2017, was named to the UEFA Team of the Year eight times, and was nominated for the Ballon d'Or six times.

He was also included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI on 11 occasions, a record only surpassed by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

With his leadership, defensive strength, offensive ability, and winning mentality, Ramos joins Monterrey aiming to make history with the Albiazul team.

Welcome, Sergio Ramos!
