CF Monterrey signed a sports collaboration agreement with Dundee FC, a team that participates in the Scottish Premiership, the highest category of professional soccer in Scotland.
The purpose of the agreement is to collaborate with Dundee FC in the training, development and projection of young players from the Rayados' Youth Academy on the European continent.
Nicolas Martellotto, director of the Club's Youth Academy, highlighted the opportunity that young players will have to develop in European soccer.
"We are very excited about this agreement with Dundee FC, as it represents a great opportunity for players from our Youth Academy to migrate to Europe and continue their development outside of Mexico," he commented.
He also mentioned the case of Antonio Portales, a player from the Club's Youth Academy, who emigrated to Scotland and is now a key player for the Scottish team.
"Portales was a player who lived his process in the Club's Youth Academy since he was 13 years old. We are looking for more players to follow in his footsteps and continue his career with Dundee FC, in such a competitive ecosystem as the Scottish First Division," he highlighted.
Tim Keyes, president of Dundee FC, was excited about this new alliance with Club de Futbol Monterrey.
"Monterrey is one of the top teams in Liga MX, with a wealth of talented players and a first class management team. Despite being on different continents, the culture and approach to developing young talent is very similar between the two clubs. We expect this agreement to bring great benefits to both clubs in the coming years," shared Keyes.
John Nelms, CEO of Dundee FC, was impressed by the structure of the Club's Youth Academy, which has over 15,000 players in its Official Schools from the age of 4.
"Last month, Tim and I went to Mexico to close the deal and we were able to see how great Club de Futbol Monterrey Rayados is. Both clubs will benefit from this relationship, as we will share skills and knowledge, while developing talented young players who can go on to the First Team and play at the highest possible level," he said.
Dundee FC joins Club de Futbol Monterrey's network of International Partner Clubs, which has a presence in the United States, Canada and now Scotland.
