Rayados took the first triumphant step in the Playoffs!

With the support of their fans, Monterrey defeated Tigres 2-1 in the Clasico Regio in the first leg of the Quarter-Finals of the Clausura 2024 Tournament, which took place this Wednesday at the Estadio Unversitario.

The albiazul team started the match looking for the opponent's goal from the very first minutes. Sergio Canales opened the scoring and Diego Lainez equalized before halftime. In the second half, Maxi Meza sealed the victory.

At the start, Sergio Canales took a free kick on the edge of the box, but the ball crashed into the wall.

Jorge "Corcho" Rodriguez stole a ball in the midfield and sent a filtered pass to Sergio Canales, who took a low left-footed shot to send the ball into the lower left corner of the rival goal and unleash the euphoria of the Albiazul fans.

In the second half, Fernando Ortiz's men sought to take the lead into the second leg, and it was Maxi Meza who gave the albiazules the victory.

Brandon Vazquez entered the box from the right flank and sent a lateral pass. Sergio Canales connected with a sweep and the ball hit the post. On the rebound, Maxi Meza scored the winning goal.

Esteban Andrada had an outstanding performance, intervening when called upon.

At 68', German Berterame left Samir Caetano in the way with a couple of feints and shot with his right foot, but the rival goalkeeper prevented the albiazul striker from scoring.

Rodrigo Aguirre came close to scoring the third, after a cross from Jesus Gallardo at minute 74, but the ball went over the opponent's goal.

Monterrey kept up the intensity during the final minutes and managed to win the away game.

Thus, Rayados takes the 2-1 advantage for the second leg to be played at the Estadio BBVA.

This Sunday, May 12, at 21:10, Rayados will host Tigres at the Estadio BBVA for the second leg of the Quarter Final.

The albiazules will advance to the Semifinal, if they win or draw by any score, or even if they lose by a goal.
