In front of a vibrant Estadio BBVA, Rayados del Monterrey advanced to the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup after defeating Comunicaciones FC 3-0 (7-1 overall) in the second leg of the First Round.

The match began with Rayados looking for the opponent's goal, and they took the lead in the first half thanks to goals by Héctor Moreno and "Tecatito" Corona.

In the second half, Brandon Vazquez scored his first international goal for Monterrey.

Maxi Meza found Hector Moreno who struck with the outside of his left foot to score the first goal of the match.

At 24th minute, Alfonso González sent the ball into the back of the net with an acrobatic finish, but the referee disallowed the goal due to Gerardo Arteaga's offside on the previous play.

The defense denied a corner kick taken by Maxi Meza. On the rebound, "Tecatito" shot from outside the box to put the ball just inside the post.

Minutes later, Esteban Andrada cut out a cross from Carlos Mejía that was looking for striker Juan Anangono.

In the second half, Monterrey sought to extend the score and managed to do so through Brandon Vazquez.

Omar Govea took a free kick at minute 57, which went just wide of goalkeeper Fredy Perez's goal.

At 74', César Garza came close to scoring his first international goal with a shot from outside the area that was headed for the corner, but goalkeeper Fredy Perez sent it to the corner.

Rodrigo Aguirre recovered the ball in the opponent's box and set up Brandon Vazquez, who scored Monterrey's third goal.

In the Round of 16, Rayados will face the winner of the match between FC Cincinnati and Cavalier SC.
