FOUR EXCITING MATCHES OF THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP WILL BE HELD IN MONTERREY!
The Monterrey Organizing Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is proud to announce that FIFA has decided that the Estadio Monterrey will host four matches of world soccer's top competition.
Sunday, June 14, Saturday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 24, 2026 are the dates on which three World Cup matches will be played at the Estadio Monterrey in the Group Stage, and the fourth match will be played on Monday, June 29 in the Round of 16.
Although it was expected that three matches would be played at Estadio Monterrey, the infrastructure offered by the state, the municipalities and the stadium, as well as the passion with which Monterrey's soccer fans live the game, contributed to FIFA's decision to hold more matches at the Monterrey venue.
The decision reflects FIFA's confidence that Monterrey and Estadio Monterrey will offer an exceptional experience to all attendees during the world's most important sporting spectacle, as well as its recognition of the city's enormous passion for soccer.
The announcement by world soccer's governing body represents a historic moment for Monterrey, and positions the city as a key destination for fans from all over the world.
The Monterrey Organizing Committee is grateful for the trust and distinction granted by FIFA and invites all fans to live the experience and the great emotions of the four World Cup matches to be held at Monterrey Stadium.
The Estadio Monterrey, a modern world-class soccer facility, an icon of the city where fans live with passion every match, is the perfect setting to host the matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Pedro Esquivel, Head of the Monterrey Organizing Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressed his enthusiasm after FIFA's announcement and said that they will provide the best and safest experience for fans coming from all over the world.
"I am very happy and excited with FIFA's decision to announce that our Estadio Monterrey will host four matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and I invite fans from all over the world to join this celebration in our city," said the executive.
"We have worked and will continue to work tirelessly, in conjunction with the authorities of the state of Nuevo León and the municipalities, so that fans will have a safe and unforgettable experience and a party full of joy and passion at Monterrey Stadium”.
Alejandro Hutt, Monterrey Host City Manager for the 2026 World Cup, highlighted that this announcement of one more match than expected is a reflection of the great infrastructure in the state and municipalities, as well as the passion for soccer in the city.
"I would like to emphasize that the announcement of the four World Cup matches in Monterrey is a reflection of the facilities and infrastructure that the state of Nuevo Leon, the municipalities and Estadio Monterrey are preparing to offer to all fans," he said.
"I also see in FIFA's announcement the recognition of the highest body of world soccer to the passion with which fans live soccer in Monterrey."
