Rayados lost 1-0 to Toluca at the Estadio Nemesio Diez, in the rescheduled match of Matchday 5 of the Apertura 2023.

Rayados started the match attacking and had the first opportunities, however, it was Toluca who opened the score. 

After the Diablos' goal, Rayados pushed forward throughout the entire match and came very close to scoring, but were unsuccessful.

Ali Ávila created the first danger paly at minute 5. After a through ball from Sergio Canales, the young Rayados striker fired a shot across the face of goal, but goalkeeper Tiago Volpi leaned back to deflect the ball away.

Jean Meneses passed to Juan Domínguez, who shot from outside the box and put the ball into the top left corner to open the score.

Five minutes later, Jordi Cortizo made a spectacular play when he cut back past three Toluca defenders, took a free kick and shot from half distance, but the ball hit the crossbar!

In the second half, Fernando Ortiz's men tried to turn the score around.

At the start of the second half, Jesús Angulo shot at goal after cutting back to Sebastián Vegas, but the ball went wide of Esteban Andrada's goal.

At minute 60, Esteban Andrada saved a powerful shot by Pedro Garay.

Minutes later, Maxi Meza set up Ali Ávila, who broke free and shot at goal, but the ball hit the scarlet team's post!

After a great Rayados combination at minute 77, Maxi Meza shot at goal, but the ball was denied by Tiago Volpi.

Ángel Jordan made his debut in the First Division with Rayados when he came on in place of Luis Romo at 93'. Congratulations, Ángel! 

With this score, Rayados remain in eighth place in the Season Standing, with 7 points.

On Sunday, September 3, at 5:05 p.m., Rayados will visit Chivas at the Estadio Akron for the Matchday 7 game.
