Rayados del Monterrey lost 2-1 against Cruz Azul in the match of Matchday 6 of the Apertura 2023 played at the Estadio BBVA. 

Rayados pressed from the start of the match looking for the opponent's goal, however, it was Cruz Azul who opened the score.

Monterrey persisted and, before going to the break, managed to tie the match. However, shortly after the start of the second half, Cruz Azul scored the final 2-1.

Rodrigo Huescas passed the ball to Diber Cambindo, who took a low shot that reached Esteban Andrada's goal.

At minute 31, Carlos Rotondi gave a great pass to Uriel Antuna and Víctor Guzmán made a great defensive play to cut off the advance. 

Four minutes later, Rogelio Funes Mori headed in a great cross from Jesús Gallardo, but goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado prevented the Rayados’ goal on the line.

Jordi Cortizo crossed for Rogelio Funes Mori. The striker assisted first to Maxi Meza, who tied the match with a precise shot. 

In the second half, Monterrey sought to go up on the score, but Cruz Azul scored again in the first few minutes and won the final score.

Diber Cambindo sent a through ball to Moisés Vieira, who shot with his right foot to score Cruz Azul's second goal.

Jesús Gallardo almost tied the match again at minute 67 with a great shot from outside the box that hit the post.

Despite their attempts to tie the game and turn the score around, the Rayados were unable to do so and suffered their first defeat of the tournament.

This Wednesday, August 30, at 19:00, the Rayados will visit the Toluca Diablos at the Estadio Nemesio Diez to play the match pending from Matchday 5.
