Rayados lost 3-0 to Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park and ended in fourth place in the Leagues Cup 2023, becoming the highest-ranked Mexican team at the end of the international tournament.
An early goal and another in first-half stoppage time were crucial to the adverse result.

In the first play, Jesús Bueno took advantage of a rebound inside the box and pushed the ball in to open the score for the home side.
Jordi Cortizo had the first danger play for Rayados at minute 13 with a left-footed shot, but the ball ended up in the hands of goalkeeper Andre Blake.
Monterrey goalkeeper Luis Cárdenas made a great save after a shot from three-quarters of the field by José Martínez at minute 28.
Daniel Parra also came close to a draw at minute 31. After a great cross to the far post, the player took a first-time shot, but the ball went just wide of the goal.

Monterrey’s team reached the opponent's area on several occasions, however, they were unable to score.
In this match, Rayados had the official debut of Iker Fimbres and Erick Carballo, two players from the Club de Futbol Monterrey's Youth Academy.
Rayados will return to Mexico and on Sunday, August 27, at 8:00 p.m., they will resume their participation in the Liga BBVA MX when they host against Cruz Azul at the BBVA Stadium.
