Rayados defeated Mazatlán 3-0 in the Matchday 3 of the Apertura 2023 played at Estadio Mazatlán. 

The match began with Rayados looking for the win right from the start.

At minute 15, Luis Amarilla kicked Stefan Medina in the face inside the penalty spot. The referee awarded a penalty kick to Rayados and sent off the Mazatlán player. 

Rogelio Funes Mori shot hard and close to the right post, but goalkeeper Hugo González saved the ball.

At minute 32, Miguel Sansores headed a cross from Camilo Sanvezzo and sent the ball into the back of the net, but after a VAR review, the referee disallowed the goal for being offside. 

In the second half, Rayados continued attacking their opponents and were rewarded.

After a counterattack initiated by Maxi Meza, Germán Berterame crossed for Joao Rojas, who open the scoring. 

Rodrigo Aguirre came close to scoring when, after a pass filtered by Joao Rojas, the Uruguayan shooted, but the ball went wide of the goal.

Rodrigo Aguirre now gave the ball to Joao, who after two touches took a shot to put the ball into the corner of the net and scored his double with a super goal. 

Esteban Andrada made an excellent save at minute 85, after a volley shot by Miguel Sansores.

Víctor López sent in a cross that Berterame brought down inside the box and pushed the ball into the goal for the third goal of the match. 

Kevin Ortega, a Rayados U-23 player, made his debut with the First Team when he came on in place of Maxi Meza at minute 81. 

With this victory, Rayados now have 7 points and are in second place in the season standings. 

Starting tomorrow, Rayados will begin their preparation for the Leagues Cup 2023, where they will make their debut on Wednesday, July 26, when they visit Real Salt Lake at America First Field.
