With the support of the Rayados fans at the Estadio BBVA, Rayados defeated Club Atlas 1-0 in Match 2 of Apertura 2023 Tournament.

Rayados began attacking the rival with the intention of opening the scoreboard from the first minutes and succeeded in doing so through Stefan Medina.

The goal was scored after a foul on Jordi Cortizo on the right flank.

Maxi Meza took a free kick with a half-high cross, Stefan Medina headed in at the far post to open the scoring at the Estadio BBVA.

At minute 25, Rayados came close to scoring another goal, when Jordi Cortizo sent a cross for Germán Berterame, but defender Hugo Nervo swept in the pass line and prevented the ball from reaching the Rayados striker. 

At minute 67, Aldo Rocha took a free kick and Esteban Andrada, Rayados goalkeeper, made a great save to deflect the ball. 

Rayados tried to increase the score with a shot by Victor Lopez and another by Rogelio Funes Mori.

With this victory, Rayados reached 4 points and moved into seventh place in the season standings. 

On Friday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m., Monterrey will visit Mazatlán.
