Rayados and Atletico San Luis tied 1-1 in the game of matchday 1 of the Apertura 2023 Tournament played at Estadio Alfonso Lastras.

Both teams started the game looking for spaces to attack, but it was Rayados who managed to capitalize and open the scoreboard.

Goalkeeper Esteban Andrada played a key role in preventing the Rayados’ defeat.

At minute 11, Vitor Ferreira took a free kick that Dieter Villalpando finished off first intention, but Andrada made a great save. 

Sebastian Vegas sent a cross at minute 26 and Maxi Meza headed the ball over the goal of San Luis.

Jordi Cortizo sent a cross from the right wing. Rogelio Funes Mori rose to head the ball past the post to score the first goal for Rayados of the match and of the tournament. 

In the second half, led by Fernando Ortiz sought to extend the lead, however, San Luis tied the game through a penalty kick.

After a foul in the area by Erick Aguirre over Jhon Murillo, the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Atletico San Luis

Zaldivar tied the game from the penalty spot with a shot that hit the post, impossible for Andrada.

At minute 66, Celso Ortiz committed a foul on Vitor Ferreira and the referee again awarded penalty kick in favor of the Atletico San Luis.

Esteban Andrada leaned to his left side and stopped the penalty kick taken by Angel Zaldivar. 

With this result, Rayados earned their first point of the Apertura 2023, and Rogelio Funes Mori scored Monterrey's first goal in the tournament and his 153rd score with the Rayados jersey

On Sunday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m., the Rayados will host Atlas at the Estadio BBVA. Let’s go, Rayados!
